The morning of July 24, 2015, my father in-law Walter L. Klinosky Sr. of Greenwood, B.C. died peacefully in the house (and room) of his birth. It’s true. Very rare to say the least. He was 77 years old.
The picture above was taken after he returned home from a hard 12-14 hour day, driving logging roads and the highway. It was a career he loved, enjoyed and excelled at. He was proud to be a professional Class 1 driver.
He was born December 23, 1937 in Greenwood, B.C. He worked in the forest industry for over 50 years.
He married the love of his life, Jean (nee Ashe) on December 9, 1964.
Besides Greenwood, he also lived and worked in Okanagan Falls, B.C. and Parson B.C. He also spent time working in Kalso B.C. driving home for the weekends. He retired in 2003.
He liked swimming, hunting, fishing; enjoyed his television, watching the news, young and restless, hockey and other sports especially wrestling. He loved listening to his scanner monitoring radio frequencies in the area, and doing the odd thing around the house including cutting the grass with his riding lawn mower.
When not driving logging truck, he loved driving his red and white International Scout and then later his Ford Bronco.
He was a hard worker and great provider. He loved to dance; was known to have a drink or two, sometimes more; in short, he knew how to have fun. And did. He had a sense of humour and the gift of making a stranger a friend.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Jean; daughter Waneta (Andrew), son Walter Jr.; grandchildren Sara and Kassi; sisters Marilyn (Morris), Rosaline; brother Jim; many nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial and internment of his ashes will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the Greenwood cemetery.
Below is a photo showing the location of the cemetery off of Highway #3, along Boundary Creek Road, just after the turnoff to Jewel Lake.
